Protection of hair is very important to prevent the hair fall. Hair fall due to hair damage or breakage is more common. Hair strength plays a major role in prevention of hair fall. Hair strength will be evaluated by tensile strength and elasticity of hair. kesh raksha herbal hair oil, a polyherbal formulation has been evaluated for its tensile strength. Tensile strength was measured by the in-house made dia-stron like instrument. Studies gave an insight on the efficacy of kesh raksha herbal hair oil in improving the tensile strength of hair when compared with control, coconut oil and water treatment.
 Long, dark hair is considered as sign of health and beauty therefore strong hair is always desired by all. Long hair certainly has its limitations with reference to its physical strength while combing, washing, drying etc. Hair at the proximal end is always stronger than the hair at distal end. Moisture loss, cuticle damage due to combing, frequent shampooing, styling etc., are some of the most common factors known to weaken the hair. Improving the hair strength and enhancing its elasticity are important to minimize the hair breakage

study clearly reveals the fact that kesh raksha herbal hair oil significantly increases the tensile strength of hair which was reconfirmed based not only on the increased weight bearing capability (force required to break) of the treated hair but also based on the strechability (increase in length from its original length). Contrary to that, no significant increase in the tensile strength or the strechability of the hair was observed when hair was treated with water or by coconut oil
in the case of hair treated with kesh raksha herbal hair oil, the breakage was observed close to the terminal end of the hair where the load was applied. This suggests that kesh raksha herbal hair oil significantly improves the tensile strength of the hair; therefore the load has caused the breakage of the hair almost at the terminal end. Further the force required to break the hair also was higher for kesh raksha herbal hair oil treated hair vis-à-vis water and coconut oil.
Since kesh raksha herbal hair oil being oil, we presume that it can further enhance the hair strength because of its conditioning property. Most of the hair fibers break at the distal end due to traction pressure while combing [10]. The kesh raksha herbal hair oil due to its oily nature and its unique herbal composition is likely to reduce the combing pressure on hair and that may further reduce hair break.
